On Saturday, we received horrible news.

Our friend, our coworker, and a great person, Courtney Nelson was killed in a motorcycle accident.

Courtney Nelson hosting mornings on KLAQ in El Paso from 1986 to 1992, programmed several different radio stations, including KISS-FM and KLAQ in El Paso, taught so many people many things about radio and life, and loved his family with everything he had.

He came to San Antonio with his family in 2012, and came to work for Y100 and KKYX (under the name Dave Brooks). He loved his job, his friends, his family, attended church regularly, and made everyone smile.

He enjoyed riding motorcross, and would go out as often as he could. He’d been riding since childhood. He also loved to fly planes, and had recently gotten back into the cockpit to resume flying.

He was always good for laughs, always supportive and helpful, and was the first to step up anytime anyone needed help.
